My city speaks
«شهر من حرف می زند» دختر کوچکی که چشم هایش خوب نمیبینند، در دلِ شهری که دوستش دارد، چیزهای زیادی برای شادی کردن پیدا میکند. او با پدرش یک روز را در شهر میگذراند؛ شهری که مالِ خودِ اوست. با هم به دیدن شهر میروند مانند زمینِ بازی، باغچهی محله، بازار، و یک کنسرت در فضای باز. در راه، دخترک با دقت و شادی دربارهی چیزهایی که حس میکند حرف میزند. او میگوید: شهر من انگار «میدود ، می ایستد، صبر میکند و دوباره به راه میافتد.» انواع صداها از آن به گوش می رسد: صدای چک چک آب یا صدای پژواک هر چیز دیگری. در شهر من هم «بوهای بد» به مشام می رسد هم بو و عطرهای شیرین. شهر من حرف میزند، و گاهی از آن صدای دینگ و دانگ، خش و خش و غرولندی شنیده می شود و بعضی وقت ها شاید در قشنگ ترین زمان ها آرام و آهسته گوش می دهد.
A young girl, who is visually impaired, finds much to celebrate as she explores the city she loves.
A young girl and her father spend a day in the city, her city, traveling to the places they go together: the playground, the community garden, the market, an outdoor concert. As they do, the girl describes what she senses in delightfully precise, poetic detail. Her city, she says, “rushes and stops, and waits and goes.” It “pitters and patters, and drips and drains.” It “echoes” and “trills,” and is both “smelly” and “sweet.” Her city also speaks, as it “dings and dongs, and rattles and roars.” And sometimes, maybe even some of the best times, it just listens.
